About Nina

Work in progress - Luna's Vision

My name is Nina Wictorin, and I am an intuitive artist from Malmö, Sweden. I am mainly self taught, but have also taken several courses facilitated by artists Flora Aube and Michal Shimoni.  I have always felt drawn to the creative side of existence, and loved to draw and paint as well as writing poetry and short stories already as a little girl, and since then the passion for creating visual art has followed me off and on through the walk of life.

In 2017, I started to paint on a more regular basis, and it has now become something I could not imagine my life without. I use mostly acrylics in my paintings, sometimes with different mixed media elements. To me, starting a new painting is like entering a fairytale where anything is possible. Painting for me is about magic and the joy of discovering unknown territories deep inside of my own subconscious. My paintings often have a dreamlike and surreal atmosphere to them, and I get a lot of inspiration from mythology and symbolism. Another great source of inspiration are my dreams, and I guess I simply find that other, hidden plane of existence more interesting than the so called reality. I often paint semi-abstract female portraits and figures, and my method is always highly intuitive, meaning that the finished painting is a surprise even to myself.

Sometimes I want to tell a story or express an emotion through my art – other times I just wish to mediate a certain atmosphere or explore a specific technique or combination of colors. But most of all I hope that my art, in whatever a small way, will contribute to bringing just a little bit more beauty and magic into this world.
